Weather Flashback

January 2022 - Billowing Cumulus (April 6, 2019

Summary

The billowing cumulus in this early April scene in Oklahoma developed in warm, humid air well east of a dryline out in the Texas Panhandle. Interestingly, despite the "agitated" appearance of the cumulus, these clouds never matured into "full blown" cumulonimbus. Thunderstorm activity associated with a shortwave impulse did develop earlier in the day over the area shown; however, this activity had moved off to the northeast by the time I arrived.
