April 2022 - String of Pearls (April 22, 2020

Summary

Not included in my storm spotting trip, here, is this distant view of thunderstorm activity that resembled a string of pearls. Initiated in very buoyant and highly sheared air ahead of an eastward mixing dryline in southern Oklahoma and north Texas, these supercell thunderstorms continued well into the evening hours. My view of the string was from the southwest in dry, deeply mixed air to the west of the dryline; this was just ahead of a cold front that overtook the area from the northwest a short time later.
