Geography of the United States
Geography of the United States (lecture)
What is geography of the United States?
Geography of the United States explores processes that shape America, with an emphasis on the human experience. These processes can be used to define regions within the United States where certain processes are more or less prevalent. The prevalence of these processes is the basis for (many of the) regional geographies of America.
What about course materials?
I have chosen to offer students the opportunity to learn more about geography of the United States by focusing on content in Our Patchwork Nation: The Surprising Truth About the "Real" America (2011). This book defines America as a collection of unique regions, each driven by a variety of processes unique to that region. I will use this book as a means to guide students in their exploration and understanding of geography of the United States.
